What Are Life Groups?

Life Groups are an integral part of Discovery Church, and they are structured around the three pillars of mission, community and discipleship.

Life Groups As Mission:
Every Life Group is involved in a mission outside of Discovery Church. This keeps Discovery Church focused outside of its four walls and helps us to fulfill our purpose of alleviating suffering through being a blessing to the greater community.

Life Groups As Community:
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit constitute a community within the God-head, and through this we recognize the importance of our community with each other. Life Groups are a place to develop deep friendships, grow spiritually and share a common experience as we connect to the true source of “life” in our lives – Jesus Christ.

Life Groups As Discipleship:
Jesus allows us to join His mission in making disciples, not converts. We define disciples as genuine Christ-followers who are sent back to the world with the fragrance of Christ. Discipleship only comes from the intimate mentoring and community possibilities within smaller groups.

Life Groups and Joining Our Covenant Community at D.C.:
Due to the fact that we see Life Groups as a major piece of fulfilling our purpose and vision, joining Discovery Church begins with a newcomers' Life Group called “Discovering Life.” Discovering Life runs every quarter and covers the general tenants of our faith. It also consists of a spiritual gift and personality test to help find your best fit at D.C. Discovering Life ends with our community covenant ceremony. Our community covenant is a commitment from the attendee to the D.C. community and from the D.C. community to the attendee. After Discovering Life each atendee is encouraged to attend one of our other Life Groups. You can download a current list of Life Groups on the right side of this page. There you may also download more information about the Discovering DC process. Please contact us if you have any questions.
